Rural News

While WORA started with a group of residents close to Lake Simcoe to fight a nearby future housing/golf course development, it has always been concerned with the rural character of the Township.

Testament to this is WORA’s Mission Statement that, in part, states:

…to preserve the natural heritage of Oro-Medonte and Simcoe County designated greenlands, to promote responsible planning and sustainable development that respects provincial policy and to protect the quality of life in the Township of Oro-Medonte…

Over the years an effort has been made to make sure the Executive is representative and made up of passionate and interested residents, including those that are local, permanent and plaintiffs who won their lawsuit in court in 2010 seasonal and who represent the geography for whom we advocate.

Oro Medonte has a tremendous farming base. One only needs to go to the annual Oro Fall Fair to see the number of animals and other products on display. Therefore part of this website is being devoted to our rural and farming friends. We are pleased to provide you with a link to Agriculture Canada, a site providing news for the agricultural community and current commodity prices.

We hope you will find this information useful. Should you be aware of other rural/farm information that perhaps could be added to this site, please let us know at .
